How do I prepare clothing and household linens for recycling?
Basic Instructions:

- Place clean, reusable clothes and household linens in clean plastic bags.
- Seal or tie the bags closed.
- Place the bags next to your recycling bins for regular pick-up on recycling days.

What happens to the clothing?
At EZ Recycling center the clothing and household linens are baled and tied with wire and picked up by U'SAgain. The clothing is sorted by quality and type in to many different categories.
U'SAgain sells approximately 48% of the clothing recovered as secondhand clothing, typically to developing countries. For example the cost of a pair of pants as well as the cost of transporting them to Africa is currently only 34 cents.
About 26% of the used textiles are processed into fiber and remade into recycled textile products. Another 20% are converted into wiping and polishing cloths.
Won't this hurt local charities?

85% of the clothing sold in the United States ends up in landfills! Only 15% is recycled now.
U'SAgain is targeting people who do not find it convenient or do not have enough time to contribute their clothing to charities like The Salvation Army or Goodwill Industries.
The goal of U'SAgain us to increase the recycling of clothing to 50%.
There is plenty of room for all organizations to benefit if 50% of our clothing is reused instead of just 15%.
If you give your used clothing and household linens to GoodWill, the Salvation Army, or another charity, please continue to do so.

But...
Consider Recycling! It's easy!
The environmental savings would be enormous!
