Recycling / Disposal Information

RECYCLING GOES TO EVERY OTHER WEEK IN 2006!

2006 Recycling Calendar

RECYCLE MORE PAPER!

Mills and manufacturers can't get enough recycled paper! Right now the demand exceeds the supply. Recyclable paper has become a valuable commodity. Are you recycling all you can? More information.

Recycling: Easier Than Ever!

Recycling is now in 2 main sorting categories!
2-Stream Recycling is Faster and Easier for You!

New sorting technology and equipment now makes it possible to separate many materials automatically at the processing center instead of by hand in your home.

What is new? Now you can combine all recyclable paper products (newspaper, magazines, mixed mail, office paper, cereal and cracker boxes) into one container and combine all "hard" recyclables (bottles, cans, plastic bottles) in another.
Corrugated cardboard must still be bundled separately, and clothing should be bagged separately as before.

When can I start? Now!

Does it cost more? No. There will be no change in the fee you are currently paying.

Can I recycle more items, like pizza boxes? No. We are not adding any materials to the list of recyclables. The only change is less work for you, sorting and bagging.

Will more of my recyclables end up in landfills? What about the environment? With the new high tech equipment there is almost no change. Recovery rates remain at over 95%. You are still doing the right thing for the environment while conserving more of your precious time.

How do I get a recycling bin? You can purchase a recycling bin at City Hall during business hours. There is no charge for your first or second bin.

Can I still use paper bags for my recycling? Yes, you can still use bags. They are recycled, too, so go ahead and bag!
