Safe Gun Storage Saves Lives

A few minutes of prevention
saves a lifetime of regret!

Free Gun Locks

While supplies last, Falcon Heights residents can pick up a FREE GUN LOCK at City Hall, 2077 W. Larpenteur, during regular business hours.

Each kit contains a safety curriculum and a cable-style gun lock. There is a limit of 2 per household.

The Police Department will also provide a kit with every gun permit they issue, as long as supplies last.

These kits were made available through a partnership of the St. Anthony Police and Project ChildSafe. The Program is funded by a U.S. Department of Justice grant and additional funding by the firearms industry.

Important Tips for Gun Owners

Take 2 minutes now and do the following steps:
  • Keep your gun unloaded when not in use.
  • Lock ammunition in a separate location.
  • Use a trigger lock or cable lock, or place the gun in a safe or lock box.

  • Even if you don't own a gun . . .
  • Talk with your children about the risk of gun injury outside the home in places where they may visit and play
  • Speak with the parents of your children's friends to find out if they keep a gun at home.
  • If they do, urge them to empty it out and lock it up.
