Curtiss Field Project — 2004

Curtiss Field park was expanded and completely reconstructed in 2004 to mitigate chronic flooding problems and provide more recreational space for residents. The stormwater pond was re-excavated and engineered to accommodate run-off from heavy rains and drain within a few hours. Most of the time it will be completely dry.

New walking paths and a gazebo will make Curtiss Field an attractive outdoor destination for residents of all ages!
Flooding at Curtiss Field Park

By 2002 flooding had become a regular occurrence at Curtiss Field Park.

A restructuring of the runoff pond and surrounding recreational areas was long overdue. The City made plans to reshape the park to eliminate the flooding and provide more space for recreational use, including walking paths. Work was carried out at the same time as the SE Corner project.
