Snow Emergency Policy

Important Information - Please Read

NO PARKING IS ALLOWED ON ANY CITY STREET AFTER 2 INCHES OF SNOWFALL!

  • A Falcon Heights snow emergency begins automatically whenever there is new snowfall of 2 inches or more.
  • The snow emergency begins immediately at 2 inches of snow, NOT when the snow stops falling.
  • There will be no announcement on the radio or TV.
  • St. Paul and Minneapolis snow emergencies do NOT apply to Falcon Heights.
  • The snow emergency ends when it has stopped snowing and all the streets are plowed curb to curb.
  • All parked vehicles must be removed from the street during a snow emergency.

Cars must be moved off the street even if the two (2) inches of snow falls in the middle of the night or the early hours of the morning. Be sure to follow the weather forecast if you choose to park your car on the street.

Although the City prefers not to ticket or tow vehicles parked on the street during snow emergencies, we must keep the streets clear and open for emergency vehicle access.

Thank you for your cooperation this winter!

The city has an automatic snow emergency policy in effect when two inches of snow has fallen, NOT when the snow stops.

During the first snow storm of December, 2005, the plows were not able to fully plow all of the streets in Falcon Heights neighborhoods because of the large number of cars left on the street. We need your help to ensure that our streets are maintained properly during the winter months.

Please note that it is the city’s policy to ticket and tow any cars left on the street during a snow emergency. This policy will be enforced.

Watch the weather forecast, and if two inches of snow is predicted, make arrangements to get your car off the street overnight.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
The City of Falcon Heights
